After reading Tim Shanahan’s book “Running With The Champ” detailing his four-decade friendship with Muhammad Ali which began in Chicago in the mid 1970’s, it was a pleasant surprise to learn to many interesting revelations about possibly the most famous man in the world.
Ali’s daughter and Ken Norton’s daughter became friends and were roommates together in Los Angeles.
Muhammad loved to watch Clint Eastwood westerns and horror films especially the Dracula series starring Christopher Lee as the Count.
One of Muhammad’s vices was ice cream and his favorite was vanilla.
Muhammad had a thirty-year friendship with Kris Kristofferson.
Muhammad loved to receive gifts.
Muhammad liked to play pranks and call total strangers on the phone and talk with them.
Muhammad didn’t particularly like to play basketball and the only shot he’d attempt was the Kareem-Abdul Jabbar sky hook.
The Muhammad Ali Training Camp in Deer Lake was operated on the dysfunctional side with too much jealousy and envy of each other and trying to profit off Ali’s name and fame behind his back.
Muhammad once went to John Travolta’s home to hang out for a weekend in the 1970s.
