Nice performance by Floyd Mayweather outpointing Canelo Alvarez. Impressive use of skills, speed and smarts. Another performance that looked like a sparring session. There was a distinct of urgency, desperation. Unlike Manny Pacquiao fights which are always all out explosions of fury, machismo, action. Pacquiao remains the one guy Floyd will not go near. Yes, I do see a pattern. And suspicions have not been totally alleviated.
If Floyd is SO great, with so many skills, I want to see him say, "Manny Pacquiao, if you beat Rios, you're next." But for some suspicious reason, we just know that will not happen. I will always have suspicions of Floyd, Haymon, and Golden Boy because of this bizarre reluctance by Floyd to face Manny Pacquiao.
Canelo did actually resemble, or was made to look like a hired sparring partner last night. Let's see if Floyd can make Pac look like a hired sparring partner. I don't think he can.
It's funny how only when questioned about Pacquiao does Mayweather sing a different tune, that it's not about money, it's about self preservation and maintaining his health. Something about Manny Pacquiao terrifies Floyd Mayweather. And anyone who denies that is both ignorant and delusional.
Boxing is a great sport. When it's a sport. When it's a business, it's just okay or pretty good. Pacquiao is sport. Floyd is business.
Next year, if Pacquiao can get by Brandon Rios in November in Macau, the world must see Pacquiao vs. Mayweather, once and for all.
