Did Lampley Call Haymon A Fight Fixer?

A very interesting interview was conducted this week by the According To Boxing Twitter account with former HBO boxing broadcaster Jim Lampley, regarding the impact of Al Haymon and his PBC operation.

Lampley revealed some shocking truth bombs which sounded like veiled accusations that Haymon protected his preferred fighters with mismatch, phony wins and fixed fights.

See for yourself what Lampley said:

“There’s something to be said for protecting your fighters.”

“I know why Al Haymon has a personal interest in safety for his fighters and presenting danger to them. If you go about running careers that way in boxing, you’re going against one of the most important elements of the sport which is danger, risk. It’s a sport about risk, it’s a sport about danger.”

“And all too often what I saw from Al the avoidance of risk and wins that were managed in advance rather than needing to be earned in the ring. Too many mismatches.”

Read that again… “wins that were managed in advance…”

There is no mistaking what Lampley was implying there. He is flat out saying Al Haymon managed wins for his preferred fighters in advance of the actual fight. That’s saying Al Haymon fixes fights.

And Jim Lampley was as inside as it gets in boxing, having been the top boxing broadcaster for HBO network for over two decades. He certainly was privileged to inside information about fight negotiations, ducking and demands made by managers or advisors like Haymon.  As the state of boxing is at an embarrassing rock bottom low point, Lampley is now spilling the beans with his carefully worded language.

And don’t forget what Paulie Malignaggi said about Haymon before he was given a job as a Showtime boxing analyst. “Al Haymon can manipulate anything. What Al Haymon wants, Al Haymon gets.”

So there you have two major boxing figures saying in different words, the same bombshell truth bomb accusation. Al Haymon fixes fights.

Now the question is to go back and figure out which fights Al Haymon fixed and how many he fixed for Mayweather, Spence, Tank, Wilder…
